Vision Originality Technique ImpactBlack Eyed Susans?
I don't know why, but I've always found these flowers to be beautiful. They are so simple, and I think the name adds a bit of mystery to them, but that's not why were here.
The first thing I noticed that drew me to this photo was the way the stem sort of curves and brings the flower right towards you. It adds an interesting touch to me. The colors throughout the photo are quite lovely too as well. Also, I am fond of the fact you opted to focus on one. flower, instead of a bunch. It gives a more personal closeness to the flower and keeps your attention of the viewer focused on what the artist was looking at as well.
There are a few things I'd like to point out / suggest. The first thing I notice is the shadow on the right side. In a way it's sort of distracting and takes away from the vividness of the flower. If the shadow is from you, perhaps if you had moved a little, or even just shadowed the entire photo, it would come out without the appearance of the shadow.
Also, I love the contrast of the blue background vs. the bright yellow flower, it's almost like a sun in a summer sky type of feel, but at the same time there are a few things in the background that distract from that. First, there's the side, with the green and the other flowers. I think perhaps if you had moved the camera a little to your left you could have balanced the blue and green background out a little bit more. Not only would that help from the sort of 'distractions', but it would have also cut out the fence on the left, and shown a little more of those lovely yellow flowers in the background as well, which would be a nice compliment to the yellow, them being so small it seems, they wouldn't take up much of the 'spot light'.
The other thing I noticed was the right side, some of the pedals are cut off, while on the left it's empty space. I don't know if you cropped it, but I think perhaps that would be changed by the camera movement as well.
Other than those few things, like I've mentioned a little bit, I am quite in love with the colors. There's only a few colors throughout the photo, but they are vivid and give off a beautiful summertime sense to the photo.
I normally like things to be a bit off center in a way, but I like that this one is up front and center in the photo. Especially with like I said, the stem coming out of what feels like nowhere.
The focus on the photo is quite nice as well, I like how the shadow in the middle comes down around it so nicely and evenly with such detailed 'reflection' or detail.
